City of Love

What should have been a 7 hour journey from the south of France to Paris, turned out to be a 9 and a half hour journey due to heavy rain, accidents and heavy traffic.
We arrived at our hotel at around 6pm, feeling grubby and exhausted. A quick change of clothes and we were ready to make the most of our short time here. We headed straight to the Eiffel Tower which happens to be just around the corner from the hotel, had a quick drink, then walked down the Champs-Elysee where we found a lovely restaurant for steak and frites.
When we came out, it was dark and the tower was beautifully lit against the dark sky.
We walked along the Seine for a little way then cut through the Trocadero where we could hear music playing. There was a group of people ballroom dancing at the top of the steps which was such a beautiful sight and quite surreal, it brought a tear to my eye. I turned and smiled at D who said 'Are you ok? You've got a pained expression on your face.'

Who says romance is dead?
