Grasmere
* Thank you for all the kindness shown to the last few days, you're a great bunch!
Day three of taxi duty followed by taking pooch to ace places and I'm starting to take a perverse joy in going to the tourist honeypot locations and having them to myself.
Today we shot into the heart of the Lake District, parked in another little lay-by (genuinely quite annoyed that the National Trust have been selling off car parks to the National Park Authority who use a similar logo but charge) and walked through Baneriggs and along the Eastern shore of Grasmere.
When we arrived there was one solitary couple having an early morning dip, and as you can see the lake was like a mirror. Sadly though the sun didn't manage to burn off the haze until much later. As we ambled back over the little footbridge across the stream that connects the mere to Rydal Water we passed what looked like the first of the day's coach trips arriving. Again we drove out along a steady stream of already queuing traffic, and yes, we did feel a little smug.
