Beervana!

Before checking into our Port Townsend rental cottage, Phil and I had a light lunch of local oysters at a waterfront bistro, followed by local ice cream at a nearby shop, and then small servings of several outstanding ales at Propolis Brewing, which I had researched before our trip.

I'm drawn to the old Celtic agrarian calendar and love bees, so these ales were bound to please, and they certainly did, As often happens, we found ourselves in conversation with folks less than half our ages -- in this case, a couple from White Rock, British Columbia, very near Bellingham! -- as well as one of the co-owners of Propolis. We'll be back a time or two before leaving Port Townsend.

From there, it was a drive of less than five minutes to the food co-op, where we enjoyed making purchases in a familiar environment. Locally-made panforte, a favorite treat, was quickly added to our basket, among other things, and we'll be returning there before we leave on Saturday, too!

Our rental cottage is spacious and comfortable, and a drive of less than 10 minutes to Phil's class or to "downtown" Port Townsend, a picturesque Victorian seaport of about 9,000 inhabitants. Phil will be at his woodworking class from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., so I have lots of time to do exactly as I please!
