Mono Monday...Sound

The local Catholic church bell tower supplies the sound, and it is 3-4 blocks away from our house. At least during the day, the bells chime on the hour, and the half hour. On the hour, you get the full effect. You get eight notes of bell music, and then it gongs. 8 gongs for 8 a.m., 9 gongs for 9 a.m., etc. etc. If you listen (and count), you always know what time it is.

This is the old church. You can't tell, but the bell has been removed, and placed in the new larger church. But, the new tower doesn't have NEARLY the character that the old one does.

The old church also holds some memories for me. It now holds offices, but at one time was a gymnasium...and yours truly...Coach Tim...was the basketball coach (for 7th-8th graders) for a couple of seasons.
