Bottled Out
It is well over a week since I picked the first batch of gooseberries and high time to begin processing them and I picked the remaining crop before the lengthy and tedious process of top-and-tailing them all.
Trouble is, I haven't much room in the freezer for them, so resorted to bottling about 5lbs, even though we still have the two from last year.
I have no idea of the total yield, however there is a big panful on the cooker right now and I'll decide their fate tomorrow; all I know is that the family does not eat the jam, nor the chutney, I have made in the past, I have plenty of both Japonica and apple jelly in stock so it looks like we'll be living off Gooseberry Fool and crumbles forever.
Could be worse.
