Temporary Home
Not for me, but for my computer desk etc. We are having some ceilings plastered soon and a new wooden laminate floor laid in my study. It sounds straight forward when you say it like that, but we have discovered it's anything but:-)
One thing leads to another! My husband (I'll call him TJ from now on!) was busy up in a very hot loft removing the existing (tiny and now illegal) downlighters in the bathroom, while I was stripping off the wallpaper. Fortunately the room is mainly tiled, so it wasn't too difficult.
Then it was on to my study where we spent hours transferring everything to temporary homes. In the case of the desk, it involved taking the door off its hinges to try and get it out. That didn't work, so it had to be completely dismantled and then rebuilt in the living room. Next was sorting out all the electrical items, including the broadband router, which point blank refused to work for me! It took me ages to realise I hadn't connected it to the phone line and now it works perfectly!
I've made a start on stripping the paper from the walls of the study, but the rest will have to wait until tomorrow as my back is objecting. Once that's done, there's the small inner hall to strip too and that's the original woodchip, so I'm not relishing that task.
Once the plasterer and the carpenter and the electrician have done their bits, I'll have to decorate it all again before everything can go back where it should be. Whose bright idea was this? Oh ... it was mine:-)
