Birthday Party
Kate started her journey in to this world during Ladies Final at Wimbledon and the midwives kept popping out to find out the score but she held on and finally arrived on Mens Final Day. The womens final was the first ever singles (mens or ladies) final to end on a tie-break and the mens final is said to have been the best ever finals match. All I remember was being blessed with the best daughter ever.
Sadly brother J and Laura had to take an early flight back to the UK, so we had a rushed breakfast and hurried goodbyes before the 5 minute dash to the airport.
Being a Wimbledon child, we had to celebrate Kate's birthday with strawberries and cream. In the morning, I set off with the grandchildren for some PYO strawberries, taking great care that they didn't accidentally eat the odd one or five. Back home Angie partly managed to use some in a form of cake but we ended up going to Ottobeuren for a round of the full blown Pedro's Ice Cream sit down menu selection. No problem with calories as it's made with local organic milk.
Not sure if such a thing is sold in the UK but Angie had a Spaghetti Ice Cream - a 1960s Italo-German invention - ice cream through a press to look like spaghetti topped with cream and strawberry sauce (to resemble tomato) and sprinkled with white chocolate flakes like parmesan.
Good day and also got in a final swim.
