Experimenting with multi-exposure

A trip to Skinningrove today - I wanted to try in camera multi-exposure by focusing on the gates and dereliction at the end of the industrial pier.  When we got there we were surprised to see that the pier had been repaired, benches had been set out and the pier was full of fishing families. I spend a bit of time trying out some multi-exposures largely without success.  My favourite was the image above, where the overlapping stones complement the pattern of bricks.  The others I took were a bit disappointing.  I'm still learning this technique and actually finding the Canon more difficult to work with than the Olympus.  My guess is that photo-artists like Valda Bailey build up their images over time.

We had an enjoyable walk along the beach, which we shared with a few dog walkers.  Dotted about were family's with children enjoying the sea and sand (no distracting amusements or ice-cream parlours).  It's a former industrial area where the slag from the blast-furnaces was released over the cliff top.  Now this slag has naturalised and the long sandy stretch of beach make this a good place to visit.  

We followed up with a trip to Sainsbury's supermarket in Saltburn and then a visit to the new tea-room in Castleton.  Wonderful tea and cakes and amazing views up the valley from the balcony.  Highly recommended.
