Loix

Our last full day in the Ile de Re so we’d planned a little ‘Tour de Ile de Re’ to take in our highlights. We cycled through the salt pans to Loix, where we had a very nice lunch in the square by the church, bought from the bakers that Beck remembered from when we were here last itme and was relieved to find wasn’t in fact just a figment of her imagination. Then we went to St Martin, over the cobbles and through the massive town gates in the fortifications, for a last ice cream by the boats and on to La Flotte for a last café au lait. Finally we dropped the bikes off at the rental place in Le Bois and walked back along the beach to our base at Gros Jonc. Then we got our gear and went down to the beach for a last sun and swim…
