For many parts of my life I have been standing in the wrong shoes. Too many times I have posed in the wrong place at the right time. Today I woke with a clear and open mind and set off to watch the annual memorial football game created to honor a friend who passed away tragically and at such young age. Today i stood exactly where I should have, in the right shoes and at the right time.
I wrote this song above just days after Michael Watson (Shaky) was buried. Many people process things in different ways and for me it's done through my music.

I remember that my papa head died just before it and also a young local girl had been taken well before her time too and so I was already starting to empathize and analyze as I tend to do in that kind of way. Keith Rooney turned to me on the day of the funeral and said: "You're going to write a song about this aren't you?" and I replied: "I have already started mate". I have always just written from the heart or how I imagine others may feel. This is one song I wish I could take back and I wish I was never able to write...

The title "Truly Blue" was actually just selected today. I seem to remember that when he died it was raining lots and then on the day of his funeral the blue sky came out, hence the lyrics towards the end of the song. As a true blue rangers fan he was probably just showing off with that trick and sure as can be, he did again it today and gave us all a little heat from the sun for a change. R.I.P. ps - Well done to Mauchline on their win and cup triumph today and also to Shaky's mum Shirely who presented the trophy and joined both squads for a cracking photo that shows just what it's all about.
