Memories of Nepal
I collected seed of a number of plants during my first trip to Nepal in 1990, mostly shrubs and which are still growing at Arduaine.
I'm particularly fond of this little beauty though - Begonia hatacoa was growing on a shady bank in deep forest and had a small pod of ripe seed on it. I think that only one plant germinated or at least I only remember ever having one plant - I took cuttings and gave one plant to my brother-in-law who has kept it going ever since. It was lucky that he did as I finally lost all my plants. He gave me a cutting late last year and this is coming on nicely now and flowering. I must make sure that it's spread around a bit more this time!
