WW1 Reminder!

I just knew that as soon as I announced that I would not be standing for council, something would go wrong. Di bought me a cup of tea in bed. I was dunking a Scotch Finger Biscuit into my tea and SPLASH, the entire biscuit fell into the cup, I just knew something would happen. I thought I would start blipping some of my town but not just the new and modern but the interesting parts as well. This is Flanders Avenue where I live. This street was named after the WW1 battle in which Australian solders played an active role. Flanders is in Belgium, just north of the border between France. Each year the battle is commemorated by the laying of wreaths and flowers contains the bright red Flanders Poppy. The view is to the south with the spire of the Presbyterian Church and the spire of the Catholic Church sticking out of the trees. This was one of the earliest areas of residential development. As you can see the street is relatively narrow which is not unusual for a new town in the early 1800's. The second shot is of a Rosella which is a sign of warmer days ahead. They are an active bird that frequently fly in small groups, there were six in the tree. the squark like any other parrot but it is not invasive. They unlike many birds frequently hang from branches while eating or just for something to do.Hope you are having an enjoyable day!
