Jersey Tiger Moth

A lovely lazy day today with an unexpected visit from some UK friends who've just finished a Tour du Mont Blanc based on an itinerary I wrote them - they had a great time - phew!!
We sat in the sun and had lazy coffee listening to the local fete and the alpenhorn display - somehow coffee became wine and lunch, and all too quickly the fete packed up & I'd not grabbed a blip. Wandering back to the apartment the ridge up to the Dome du Miage looked enticing, the headwall of several avalanches casting sharp shadows and I thought that would be today's blip - but in the apartment I saw movement on the inside of the insect screens (no idea how he got there) and found this beautiful fellow.
It took a bit of research to identify as whilst relatively common on the continent they historically only occurred in one place in the UK - I'm sure you can guess. But recent climate change has meant they are now regularly found in Cornwall & Devon and since 2004 a colony has been established in London - believed to have been started by one errant egg laying female. Proof if any were needed that nature often adapts and succeeds.
I grabbed a few shots and then gently let him fly away.
