Gothic Gallery
This is the front of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh. The red sandstone brickwork is just beautiful, especially against some of the amazing sunsets we see here. The building opened to the public in 1889 as a shrine to the country's heroes and heroines. On the outside of the building, two sides have statues of poets, monarchs and statesmen whilst statues of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce guard the entrance. The figure above the doorway, right at the top of the building depicts 'History'.
