Our Carver Will Carve No More

Our neighborhood wood carver (two doors down from us) has passed away. Walt loved to work in his wood shop.

He has these smaller face pieces (12-16 inches high) that he probably made with chisels, but he also has some 6-7 feet tall pieces that he carved with chain-saws.

I picked out some mild ones for my collage, but some of his work (especially the bigger ones) are close to being scary.

Walt had a stroke quite a few months ago, so his death wasn't totally unexpected. He has been unable to cut his lawn, so I've been doing it...giving me access to his back art-filled fence, and a few of the bigger pieces.

May he rest in peace with a well-oiled chainsaw. One of these days, I'll blip some of his bigger creations.
