Swamps and Wetty Feet
Today we set off on the second day of our hike, we walked from the camping area over a bridge where we stopped off for a water activity, which turned our to be white water rafting. There were too many of the English to go in one group so Grace and I split from them and then got mixed into different groups with the different nationalities. It was really good fun and it helped us mix more with everyone in our tribe. The English group got stuck at the end of the rafting so they were sorting themselves out for a while whilst we sat and waited for our next go not realizing what had happened. A couple of people in other groups fell off the raft and into the water so they must have had fun walking around for the rest of the day trying to dry off.
After the rafting we all set off again and after not too long we stopped for lunch, once we had caught up with the rest of the group and found out where we were supposed to be going, and all we could see down the hill were trees, trees and more trees. We walked again once we had finished eating and we were expecting a nice dry walk. Oh how we were wrong. We were the last to leave so we were at the back of the group with Vesa and we were far behind everyone else. We found ourselves suddenly in a very big swamp and Zoe almost went face first into the mud but luckily she stopped herself. We tried to find a less swampy area but this really didn't work as it was everywhere. There was one point where we tried to cross over the deepest area by jumping across but with huge bags on our backs this wasn't so easy and the water easy reached the tops of our thighs. I had a really good time though as it was something you wouldn't really experience at home and it was just funny realizing where you were walking was actually deeper than you first thought.
We caught up with everyone else whilst they were having a break and we sat down for a bit to relax before setting off again. The swamps carried on and halfway through the second half we were told we weren't going to be camping that night but instead we were going to walk to the road and then catch a lift back to the cabin where we could have a sauna and sleep inside. By 9.45pm we had reached the road and waited to be driven back, it was still really light even at this time which was really cool and made me not feel tired at all.
We got back to the cabin and had some dinner and a sauna. After our sauna we attempted to make some pancakes which for some unknown reason really did not work and just stayed a liquidy mush.
The picture I have uploaded is of the Cloudberries we tried along the way, they were really tasty and very fruity :D
