Across the Lake

Today was our first day of walking. We left in groups of 5 with 15 minutes between each departure. Today's bogs were no where near as bad as I was expecting which was good but the mosquitoes were definitely worse, just stopping for a few seconds you would become covered in them. Just before stopping for lunch we reached this lake where we had to be rowed across. It was fun and the lake was beautiful, I was however give the job of holding onto the canoe which had all our bags in, so no pressure... Luckily they did not fall in so all was ok!

We made our lunch and then a few people went to wash up in the swamp and Grace even tried some of the swamp water as we were told it is drinkable. We carried on walking and we soon reached our campsite where we put up our tents and cooked dinner. We got our water from the lake and surprisingly the water was really nice, I would even say it was nicer that what I get at home. In the evening we tried food from each of the countries that were there, we provided rice pudding, and we also had smoked salmon which was made around the fire we had. In the evening we sang some songs from each of the different countries which was good fun and then went to sleep for another walk tomorrow.
