A Kettle Lake
Last rest day, we visited Bow Valley Provincial Park because we had been given an orienteering map of the park to practice with but because of a problem with land permissions the local club are not allowed to hold actual events on it. I cannot get over how few people there are in these amazing parks. Apart from a few cyclists the only visitors seemed to be orienteers with the same idea us us but the park is huge I guess that's Canada for you; so much beautiful countryside and more than enough space for everyone.
This is a kettle lake formed by a bit of glacier breaking off making a massive a hole. Over 10s of thousands of years the hole gradually fills up. This one is only a metre deep now and will eventually disappear into its surroundings.
Apologies for sporadic comments; we are sharing a laptop. Please also excuse the obvious family holiday snaps but it is so rare for both sons to be on holiday with us we are making the most of it.
