Lavenders blue
I visited these lavender fields about four years ago when they were fairly new. Now they are very well established and have become a tourist attraction. There were people everywhere, strolling up and down between the rows, and many of them were taking photographs of each other. The vivid blue/mauve of the lavender would have made a beautiful portrait.
The colour and smell were intense and the bushes were buzzing with bees - see extra.
Lavender used to be grown on the edge of London, in Morden. Then it was struck by a disease and lavender growing moved to Norfolk. A few years ago a young couple bought a field on the edge of London and started the lavender growing again. It has obviously proved a very successful business for them.
