Starting a new painting...

This is as far as I got today on a new painting. This one is 28 inches wide and 22 tall. The gold and some of the red is the underpainting in gesso. The red, white and green lines are made with oil sticks. I am still in the beginning and this won't look so much like Christmas candy canes as it does right now. You can see the reference photo in the extras.

Had a good day painting. Helena came over for dinner and then we all drove down town and walked to Mallard Ice Cream for a treat. We walked around the block and then went up the Helena's apartment so she could show us a drawing she made in her woman's group. I like it. Simple with grass and a tree. She surprised herself with how good it turned out. Nice kind of surprise I would say.
