'Tis the Gift to Be Simple

This small piece of apple wood had developed a twist which needed to be eliminated before I could run it across the jointer, so I had to get out the hand plane.

I welcome the time-saving and accuracy of power tools, but also enjoy the simple pleasure of using traditional hand tools. It's hard to explain the satisfaction I get from seeing wood shavings accumulating on my work bench.
