Speeches

A slightly late start due to a muzzy head (me, Z was driving:)), after a birthday party last night at a friend's. Then we headed down to Castletownbere, nearly as far west as you can go in Cork. A colleague, the local librarian Dorothy, a great life force down there and one of the nucleus behind getting their lapsed Arts Festival up and running again after a gap of 11 years was helping launch a retrospective exhibition of John Kingerlee's paintings from 1962-2016. A huge collection of very interesting images in varying styles. Kingerlee left London in the 80s and moved to a remote hillside in Beara, working there for several decades, he's now living and still working, in the heaving metropolis of Skibbereen at the age of 80. Well worth a look, if you're passing!
