Charged atmosphere

WHR group briefing.

I'd got my kit sorted early today, submitted a magazine article and even managed to grab coffee with a friend in the sun - so a little after lunch I set off with little aim except being in Chamonix to meet my clients later on.
From above Servoz you can see through Le Gorges de l'Arve  into the Chamonix valley, and it was clear the weather was building in the high mountains. So I opted for a short leg stretch onto the Tete de la Fontaine, a small hill but one with a fine vista, from where today's blip was taken.

Arriving in Chamonix it was a dash into the hotel to avoid a soaking, all around car alarms were being set off by the thunder, lightening illuminating the storm dark mountains. An ominous start.
The group are a mixed bag of nations and sadly two have been delayed in transit, hopefully they'll arrive later before we depart. All are understandably excited and a little apprehensive, but they seem well prepared, if a little jet lagged. Some have done the TMB before and know the Haute Route is harder, all of them say they've been training for this, I guess we'll find out soon...

As ever it'll be hit and miss when I can post or pop by your journals, but I'll do my best to say hi when I can.
