Devils Den
The Union sharpshooters were nestled in on Big Round Top and Little Round Top. The Southern troops had to come across devils den and then climb up to the Tops, with absolutly no cover. As you can tell from the rocks and the drop to the small valley, there was no cover. Between the Killing Fields which was a downward slope in the open and Devils Den, the Confederate Army lost over 70,000 troops.
Today, these areas, side by side, are considered very hallowed grounds, most visitors are very reverent and respectful here because of the large numbers of death.
