DNF

This was only recently passed on to me, but it is the ultimate DNF*. It's not possible to see from the photo that it's only been half stitched. It was my late sister's, and she asked our brother to pass it on to me. She was fond of a country cottage view, or a woodland scene. I guess she remembered that I used to do tapestry a long time ago, and I suspect that she wanted me to finish it as she was not able to. I will, of course; once I've somehow overcome the problem of its overpowering smell of tar (from her chain-smoking habit), and the lack of any wools to complete it with. John Lewis will probably deal with the latter, but I don't know what to do about the smell. I've already washed it, to no avail.

But somehow I will finish it for you, my old darling.
