A quiet corner
I read yesterday in the local paper there have been complaints about the smell coming from the pond in Johnston Gardens. The paper said this has led to a drop in the number of people visiting the Gardens. (Not sure how they would know).
Today I decided to investigate for myself. As it has been quite cool, and raining for most of the past 24 hours it was perhaps not ideal timing for detecting a malodorous smell. Anyway I detected no smell, nor very many people either. It is certainly true the pond is badly overgrown and in need of a clear out. Apparently this will be done in the autumn when the breeding season for the wildlife is over.
The weather improved in the afternoon, it was cloudy and overcast at the time of my visit.
The photograph shows a quiet corner of the Garden. The wheelbarrow suggests there must be a gardener about somewhere.
