Haight Ashbury
We had a walking tour of the Haight Asbury district today. The weather was not too great. This was the first day when it felt a little bit cool, and it felt and looked as though it might rain. Fortunately the rain held off though it did not get any warmer.
The Haight Ashbury district was the hippie distract of San Francisco back in the 1960s when we all wore flowers in our hair. No flowers today, but there are some brightly coloured shops and buildings. Our guide was too young to have been around in the 1960s, but she gave us an interesting tour and pointed out both the history of the area and some of the buildings and events which were significant to the "Summer of Love" in 1967.
After the tour we had a walk around the Golden Gate park before returning to Union Square and diner in a 1950s style diner.
