Happy Times
You may have seen all or some of this before, but while in retrospective mood I decided to repeat it as a reminder to remain vigilant to the underlying problem.
It seems like only yesterday that I could stroll around with my camera in public, taking photographs of children at play and being appreciated by their parents or guardians. I could even walk into schools and photograph their activities on a nod from the head teacher, but of course that was half a century ago, in the days before paedophilia reared its ugly head in the media, although we now know only too well that it was already well established but operating below the Radar. I always carried ID confirming that I was employed by a trustworthy publication, but was rarely asked to show it in the relaxed atmosphere of the time.
The pages shown here are just a few of the 'fillers' I created for the Times Educational Supplement as an enjoyable light-hearted 'extra' to my work on the daily paper. Page layout and design were entirely manual in those days, but it was as satisfying then to see the results in print as it is in today's world of unrestrained digital magic.
Now long retired I find it refreshing to look back on those days of innocent enjoyment, and am still learning a lot from interaction with others here, so thank you all for reading my little rambles (and occasional rants!) and please do not hesitate to share your views, whether positive or critical.
