Phew what a scorcher!

It was a good day not to be in Spalding as I learnt that three people had been shot and killed close to the shop. A husband apparently murdered his wife and daughter then shot himself. It is so sad. A better place to be today was the north Norfolk coast. We walked the beach from Holkham to Wells-next-the-Sea seeking deep shade every 10 minutes. Following obligatory teas and ice cream, we drove on to Morston and wandered around the creeks and salt marsh admiring the boats and nibbling the samphire. We then installed ourselves in our bed and breakfast in Cley and explored the local delicatessen and smokery. The brick and flint cottages are picture postcard beautiful and the village has lots of little alleys with hollyhocks everywhere.
