Conifer seed

Opposite the high school are some giant conifer trees, species unknown. I found a cone that looked like a rosette on the footpath after the strong winds last week. A couple of the petals?(whatever they are called) peeled off and out popped a seed.
I almost blipped the cone as well but then thought, that is a whole other blip so I'll do that another day. Tomorrow if it is wet like today.
