Everyday I Write The Book

Lucky gym

I managed to get to the gym at 8.45 tonight. It was air conditioned and a relief as such in this very hot weather although I soon worked up a sweat. I was looking for a play on words for the title of the blip and this was the best I could come up with - Lucky Jim was a Kingsley Amis novel from the 1950s which I did read years ago. Gym'll fix it would have been better but of course the connotations are unsavoury. Star Trek might not have been bad  - "It's life, gym, but not as we know it" but actually these days the average gym is full of ordinary people trying to shed a few pounds and lower the risk of a stroke. But I am lucky to have a gym two minutes walk away so I'll stick with that ...

TSM went dog walking and lunching with a friend today. She also bought a pop-up tent with the strangest Japanese instructions.

The therapeutic journey

On the upside - day 2 without a serious fatigue problem and no falling asleep! In this heat that was quite an achievement. Downside was feeling more anxious and a bit low. But overall the last forty eight hours have been a big step forward. If the improvement is sustained over the next few days I will need to think carefully about how I get back to work in a gradual way and avoid this happening again in future. It isn't just about work stress but life stress, of which work is a part. Hoping the CBT, when it starts, will give me some long term coping tactics.
