Bird House Wall
Lithgow has always taken great pride in its appearance. The town may be down on its luck so far as local industry is concerned but several times it has won the state "Tidy Towns" competition. At the largely abandoned end of the central business district, next to "Pioneer Park", is this colourful wall of birdhouses produced by local artist Ludwina Roebuck - sponsored in part by the local Tidy Towns committee. This image covers only about a third of the present display and many more are due to be added over time. A work in progress.
I rarely enter the town from this particular direction and so I had never noticed it before. Evidently the project was commenced back in April.
