Baby Raptors?

I'd be forgiven for thinking Jurassic Park had arrived in the falconer's office this afternoon when I was invited to meet these two babies looking and sounding like hungry ravages!

In fact this ugly pair are two week old kookaburras hatched from a nest in our bird of prey centre and now in an incubator to ensure their survival. In nine weeks' time they'll develop their full laugh and will look much prettier with all their feathers.

My day was mostly spent being a tourist with my cousin and daughter visiting the Castle. This evening my good intentions to catch up on laundry and ironing was replaced by girlie chat in my friend's hot tub. Sometimes chores can wait!
