Gentle Saturday

We've had a gentle day out planned for several weeks now.  The plan was to go to Sheringham Park.  En route, we would visit a yard where they do reclamation stuff, and I also hoped that the chap selling chainsaw carvings - seen in a layby on the A149 last time I was passing that way - would still be there.

We had a leisurely start to the day.  I'd had a phone call at 0300 from the folks that field the alarm calls from Dad's sheltered housing complex.  Dad appears to have accidentally pressed his alarm, and they were unable to confirm that he was OK - he is too deaf and confused to respond to calls over the tannoy!  I did, thankfully, manage to speak to him on the phone, and establish that he had no problem, so didn't have to drive over and visit him - a task that would have been made more complicated by the fact that yesterday I gave him my keys, including the proximity tag that lets you in the main door to complex "out of hours".

But we did make it to Sheringham Park - sadly soon after that, so did the the rain.  But we did manage to visit an area called "The Bower", where there was a small exhibition of photos - prizewinners of last year's International Garden Photographer of the Year.  There was also a small meadow area - my photo for today features W standing in contemplation.  Our meadow area is also looking good, but we don't yet have quite the variety of flowers.  I have added extras of a lesser knapweed and an orchid - both plants would be great additions to our meadow, and will hopefully grow one of these years.

We didn't buy anything at the reclamation yard, and the chainsaw carvings man was not in his layby!

We then had a rather nice cream tea at Pretty Corner gardens, before coming home.
