Swans approaching

A family of swans came to get a closer look at us while we were walking in the park this evening. I was surprised to see eight cygnets in one family. Seems like a lot.

Shortly after this was taken someone appeared with bread, quickly attracting most of the birds from all corners of the pond - except for one tiny fluffy coot chick, cheeping plaintively and apparently left completely alone, and a large heron sitting hunched on a branch. We left before the worst happened.
