No symbolism
It's just a very bonny flower I spotted while I was out watering the garden this evening.
A fairly laid back kind of a day. I finally found a few minutes to clear the glass out of our neighbour's car and take it to the garage to get a quote for the window (hate driving other people's cars - with their hyper-responsive accelerators and crazy stiff steering) which thankfully is less painful than we had feared.
Our co-ownership bank account has just been cancelled for want (in typical French style) of a piece of paper, despite assurances to the contrary from a bank advisor who has now gone awol, so there was some sorting out to do on that today (I think I was mainly there as hired muscle).
Later, TallGirl finished her vet work experience by witnessing a series of operations - all of which made her feel sick. But she kept going back for more, which shows... well I don't know what it shows. The jury is still out on whether that is the career for her. CarbBoy's primary school career is effectively over as he brought all his books home today - they still have school on Monday and Tuesday, but that's just for playing. It does at least postpone my inevitable "oh my babies are all grown up' moan for another day. I'm sure you're grateful. (Early warning to avoid next Tuesday's sobbing blip.)
Later still I seemed to completely misplace my brain. Turns out trying to kill a fly on your ankle by smacking it really hard with a history book is a bad idea. (In case Mr B is reading this and is concerned: don't worry, it wasn't one of your books.) And yes, obviously, I missed the fly.
TallGirl made an odd statement tonight: apparently she's noticed that local kids don't respect me. I said maybe it's just that I'm more fun than they're used to grown ups being, and I let them get away with stuff. She, very seriously, said that it wasn't that, it was just that they see me as a "lesser adult".
I will ponder that I think. While I ice my ankle.
With a streak of meanness, I have very much enjoyed reading all the funny stuff about the Tory treachery. I think I've earned that pleasure.
