The Main Man

Meet Dr David Bloomfield, my Oncologist. It's actually a year ago today that I had my mammogram, and coincidentally I had an appointment to see David this afternoon, so I thought it was appropriate for him to feature in my blip today. I also saw Charles Zammitt, my surgeon who was seeing another patient with David, but as always Charles made time to come and have a chat and asked how I was. I owe my life to these two men and the wonderful Oncology nurses.

The last year has been hard, and even though I'm still receiving treatment, it all feels a little surreal. It's hard to think about what I've been through and this journey has certainly changed my outlook on life.

This afternoon I was contacted again by Lynn from Cancer Research UK, asking if I would make an appearance with my team ahead of the Pretty Muddy 5k on Sunday. She's asked if I'd say a few words to inspire women to get round the course. I guess there's definitely no going back now! Between us, the Bosom Buddies have raised over £900 for Cancer Research!

And apart from that, I met Marilyn this morning for a coffee/hot chocolate as she's lending me her Nikon to take on holiday with me. Then I nipped to Lidl, followed by another 1 mile swim in the pool, lunch with Vanessa at Bills in Lewes, and then went to see the poppy fields at Ditchling Beacon.

Tonight I had to take Milou to the vets as he has an ear infection, but he was a good boy and let the vet look down his ear. He gave him an injection and some drops and we have to take him back on Monday.

It's been a busy day and now I have to get treaty for our visitors arriving tomorrow! It's all good though :-)
