Local interest

I've come to enjoy my trips to our capital city, I usually try to make sure I have a wander and build time into my visits to see a few sights.
Walking along part of the Jubilee Greenway today my eye was drawn to the coots and moorhens on the canal, and the abundance of wildflowers this strip of nature displayed, I was sure they would be my blip.
But just outside my destination (Mile End Climbing Wall) I happened across these steel artworks. In all there were three, but they didn't really photograph well together. I was early and paused for a while, contemplating the art and trying to discern the meaning. The words on the suffragette are easier to read from a distance, but I couldn't fathom a connection to the running man and a horse, perhaps that's the point I thought. Subsequently Ive learnt there is no real connection, the man is Ledley King (footballer) born locally, as was Emily Pankhurst.
But in thinking about all this it's made me realise I should try harder to blip what I enjoy of these visits more often, earlier I'd been so impressed with Smithfield Market, but it wasn't till much later I even thought how good a blip it would make, or how worth recording so many of these little details are. I'm lucky enough to spend most of my time in a more natural setting, but I'm glad I'm learning to appreciate the beauty wherever I am.
