Shady days
After possibly too much sun yesterday, today found us heading out of London to the shade of Philipshill Woods. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and variously ran, skipped and strolled along the only slightly muddy paths, with a pause for a carefully organised rota of kids having a go on a rope swing.
The journey home was slightly prolonged by accidents and Olympic hold-ups on the A40, but soon we were in delivered from the air conditioned comfort of the car to the shady back garden for cooling drinks (and a very cooling hose down for me as I washed the mud of the day off everyone's shoes. Actually, the hose down helped my poor sore feet... turns out forest walking in flipflops is a rubbish idea.) Our friend Andy stayed late and we put the world to rights, or at least the education and religion side of things.
For some reason, the early nights (ie around midnight) that we had been having slipped away from us tonight, and V and I only just made it to bed before the four o'clock chimes. I'm sure we set a lot more of the world to rights.
