The Maze, Glendurgan
The maze in Glendurgan garden, Cornwall, was established in 1833, a copy of an older one near Bath. The National Trust now take great care in maintaining it as many of the paths get worn by the many thousand of feet of the visitors.
The gardens were first laid out by Alfred Fox, a Quaker, whose family had a shipping brokerage business in Falmouth. He collected many plants from the vessels that entered the harbour as first port of call from all over the world. There are many sub-tropical plants in three sheltered valleys that lead down to a beach and hamlet called Durgan on the Helford Estuary. Worth a visit!
