A short walk around the block at lunchtime, interrupting a busy day

Three of these images are of a small area that used to be just mown grass with a few trees, in font of the precinct. A planning application for a drive through KFC on this strip of grass and trees was refused months ago. I would of course not suggest that the area has been left deliberately unmaintained since - perish the thought. But it is interesting to see what happens when an area of mown grass is just left to its own devices with no cutting at all. I think it's really attractive, although I suspect others will not agree (as I took these photos with my phone, a chap asked why the area had been left in this state). The oxeye daisies are I think looking particularly good at the moment, less so when they go to seed.

And it being the European championships, I thought I would include a pub around the corner from this site - The Football. I like the flags, although not a flag of St George or Welsh Dragon in sight. I wonder why ?
