A tiny owl
This being Tiny Tuesday, I looked for something in my home that would qualify, and found this silver toothpick. It was a gift from my father to my mother, and she had it until she passed away at 95 in 2012. The owl was my father's symbol- he used it on his stationery, all our family greeting cards, and our birth announcements. We had an embroidered wall hanging with the poem,
A wise old owl lived in an oak,
The more he saw, the less he spoke.
The less he spoke, the more he heard -
The wise old owl was a wise old bird.
As a seriously hearing-impaired man, he believed in the truth of this saying. All of the costume jewelry he gave her had owls on it.
