Tiny Tuesday . . . Tiny Library
Today is my day for teaching five year old's and I often read to them to calm them down. After forty years of reading to children there are some stories that just stay with you. I bought this little collection because I so enjoyed reading the rhyming text and they all have delightfully absurd aspects. It's also less noticeable that a mature woman has children's books on her book shelves. This little collection has titles by Maurice Sendak. I think he was an original writer with a sense of humour that appealed to the children and the adult who was doing the reading. The little box holding the books is 4 inches high. Each book has a dust jacket. Instead of a haiku I have typed out the blurb from inside the dust jackets.
One Was Johnny . . . a counting book

Pierre a cautionary tale in five chapters and a prologue
A story
with a moral air
about Pierre,
who learned
to care.
Alligators All Around- An Alphabet
An alligator
jamboree
with all
the letters-
A through Z.
Chicken Soup With Rice- A Book Of Months
Each month is gay,
each season nice,
when eating
chicken soup
with rice.
