Friday night at the Movies

I was intending to have a morning of culture uptown but, surveying the tippling rain, decided a tramp round wet streets would have little to commend it. Instead, I headed to Staples to buy box files with the intention of organising the cupboard of my life's possessions. Bugger but there were roadworks and West Edinburgh was in a snarl. Two frustrating hours later I was home. Still, what is radio 4 like? Antony Beevor interviewed - but over a game of chess (there's a fine idea for radio). And fancy that, the 11th Hussars still set a place for Cardigan at their dinners. Dear God.
Later, off to see Love & Friendship at Ocean Terminal: a cracking film, full of crackling dialogue. Good to see something where so much effort and love has been put into the crafting of the script. Rather like my blips in that regard, m'lady.
