Winter Hill

The last Saturday in July is traditionally reserved for a "pack run" of 18 miles over the 12 summits of Winter Hill - the route and run are known as "Coope's Dozen" in recognition of the instigator, John Coope. As has been the case for a year or two there were two "packs", one a little more social than the other, but the same rules apply - no racing until the 12th summit.

As there were 4 blippers between the two groups this might not be the only blip from Winter Hill today.

As an outlier of the Pennines it affords unrivalled views and has a particularly rich history beginning in the Bronze Age until today when it provides an ideal site for telecoms masts.
