A very British games

So the 2012 London Olympics have started with an amazing 'only the British could ever do' opening ceremony that purposely tried to be a bit shit at times, then stunned the world by being brilliant and finally confused most of North America by adding the irony of the Queen jumping out of a helicopter, dusting herself down and taking her place in the Royal Box.

It didn't feel like a London games, it definitely felt British and that carried on to the huge crowd that sat outside in Edinburgh's Festival Square to watch the spectacle on the large screen. Everyone was proud to be British as David Bowie said in the song that led Team GB into the stadium "just for one day".

Great event by Danny Boyle and Underworld. now let's hope we can keep being proud for 17 more days.
