Kirkstone Pass

We had a fab day..... the weather was terrific, even though the forecast yesterday had not been too good...... travelled over the border to the Kirkstone Pass and walked 7.5 miles to Grisedale. 

Stopped at the Rheged Centre for a break on the way down, which was great.

The start of the walk was quite difficult, very little in the way of pathway, we just found our way through the boulders.  Stopped at Brotherswater for a bit of lunch, and then continued along the water to finish at Grisedale.  We were thrilled to find a farm shop selling ice cream just before we finished the walk, and we were hot, and ready for an ice cream!!!

After changing out of our walking gear the coach took us to Penrith for a meal at the George Hotel.  We have stopped at this hotel before and always had a good meal but today was a little disappointing.

However, it didn't spoil what was a great day!
