What a day! Hurricane Maria came and we were both rushing round preparing to receive a family of five, plus the TV team, back for a second interview. Luckily everyone arrived late – and the guests couldn’t have been nicer or more easy going (parents in the photo, with Luke). The TV team were really nice too, but the presenter was worried about arriving late at ours as he absolutely had to get to his next interview on time. However, it turned out that the interviewee knew nothing about the appointment, so he relaxed and stayed for a coffee.

Now worried about how the interview will come out – we may cringe with embarrassment. Should we tell the other Brits to look out for it, or keep mum till we’ve seen it ourselves and assessed the degree of egg on our faces?

Luke, who came for 2 nights and has stayed for nearly three weeks, is moving on to a free berth with the chaplain and his wife, obviously a much better deal for a student. We’ll miss him, having appointed him honorary grandson. And we’ll miss his excellent stir-fries.
