Evening all,

well, after my slightly poo blip of yesterday i thought i'd post a photo that i'm a little bit more pleased to claim ownership of.

Another very hot day today, and i'd started the day with a photo of a bluebottle that i'd got hideously tiddly with a mix of sugar and tequila to encourage it to pose for me.

What the hell, its only going to live for a month, being drunk before 930 in the morning doesn't seem that much of a crime does it.

(I found that salient fact about bluebottles on the deliciously titled UK Mantis Forums, oh the internet is a wonderful thing at times.)

Anyhoo, quick tidy up and then off up to the hospice to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun...prepared this time, macro lens on camera and a quick stalk amongst the heather and the wee flying beasties.

This ones the best i could do handheld,leaning as close as possible without falling into the flowers....two things become obvious:

1) need a longer macro lens
2) need to try tequila on the wasps and bees to slow them down a bit.
