The joys of travel

Last night we booked a taxi to take us from the hotel in Tromso to the airport. It didn't arrive so we ordered another. The road from the centre of Tromso to the airport is mostly underground.

Once there, we had to check in, print boarding passes and luggage labels and attach the latter ourselves, which was a sticky kind of fun.

Arriving in Oslo, we tried to buy "Oslo Cards" which give unlimited public transport etc. However, the kiosk was closed until 2pm. So we got a taxi.

Later, after settling-in at our Airbnb apartment, we tried to head down to Oslo's waterfront for a meal. We found the tram stop and boarded the first one that arrived. I tried to buy the tickets but the driver told me, more forcibly that was strictly necessary, that he was unable to exchange our cash for his tickets and we had to go to a local shop to buy some. I asked where it was. He didn't know.

We got directions to the said shop from a chap by the roadside. Inside the shop, I asked for the tickets but was told their system was down and they couldn't sell them either. So we hailed a cab. Easy really.
